NYM to host Verndale on Friday night

The New York Mills Eagles dropped a pair of tough games against both Henning and Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal last week. The losses drop the Eagles to 9-11 overall and 6-6 in the Park Region Conference.

This week the Eagles will travel to Bertha-Hewitt on Tuesday, before traveling to Barnesville on Thursday night. 

On Friday, the Eagles will wrap up their Park Region Conference schedule when they host Verndale in their final regular season home game of the season.

NY Mills fell to the conference leading Menahga Braves by a sore of 65-28 on Jan. 30. The Eagles trailed 40-9 at halftime, before scoring 19 points in the final 18 minutes of action.

Gabi Vaden led the way offensively for the Eagles as she scored 10 points, while Alayna Baune scored 7 points and pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds in the loss.

Four Eagles reached double figures as NY Mills defeated Pillager by a score of 62-58 in overtime on Thursday, Feb. 1.

NY Mills led by a margin of 30-21 thanks to 13 points and three 3-pointers in the first half by Annika Dunrud. 

Pillager was able to tie the game at 54-54 at the end of regulation, before Gabi Vaden and Grace Brasel each hit 3-pointers and Rosemary Laudenbach hit a pair of free throws in overtime to come away with the 62-58 win.

Dunrud led the way offensively with a double-double with 15 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Brasel also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Vaden scored 15 points and Alayna Baune scored 12 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.
