0Eagles take fourth in Park Region Conference

The New York Mills Eagles wrapped up their Park Region Conference schedule last week with a pair of games in conference action. The Eagles finished the conference with a record of 7-7 to finish in fourth place overall. Menahga won the conference with a perfect 14-0 record, while Wadena-Deer Creek took second place with a record of 11-3 and Verndale was in third place with a record of 10-4.
Last week the Eagles went 1-2 overall with a 56-55 win over Bertha-Hewitt and a pair of losses against Barnesville by a score of 69-54 and Verndale by a score of 45-42.
The Eagles will wrap up the regular season this week with non-conference road games against Battle Lake on Tuesday, Lake Park-Audubon on Thursday and Frazee on Friday. NY Mills is currently 10-13 overall.
Feb. 8
Eight Eagles reached the scoring column, but it wasn’t enough as NY Mills fell to Henning by a score of 70-51 on Thursday, Feb. 8. The Eagles were able to contain a tough Henning lineup with the exception of Lyvia Misegades who scored 49 of Henning’s 70 team points.
As a team the Eagles took care of the ball throughout the game as they turned it over just 16 times and shot an impressive 78.6 percent from the free throw line.
Annika Dunrud and Gabi Vaden led the way offensively with 11 points apiece. Dunrud also led the team with 9 rebounds in the loss.
Grace Brasel scored 8 points, Alayna Baune and Violet Radniecki each scored 6 points, Rosemary Laudenbach scored 4 points, Dixie Dykhoff scored 3 points and Abby Riedel rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

NY Mills came out on the short end of a 73-51 loss to Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Friday, Feb. 9.
The Eagles shot just 37 percent from the field and were unable to overcome 34 turnovers thanks to a tough Titan defensive pressure. On a positive note, the Eagles had 15 assists on 19 made shots in the game and outrebounded NCE/UH by a 35-31 margin.
Gabi Vaden had a big night from the field as she finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Alayna Baune and Grace Brasel each scored 11 points. Brasel also finished with 9 rebounds.
Annika Dunrud scored 7 points and 6 rebounds, while Violet Radniecki scored 4 points and Rosemary Laudenbach rounded out the scoring with 3 points.
