Otter Tail County Commissioners will host a community event at the New York Mills City Center on March 18 from 7-9 p.m. This event, which is not a board of commissioners’ meeting, offers an opportunity for residents to engage with commissioners and learn about ongoing county projects in the New York Mills area.

Commissioner Robert Lahman, District 4, encourages residents to stop by the open house.

“We look forward to meeting residents and are excited to share the county’s ongoing work in the New York Mills area,” he said.

District 4 includes the cities of Bluffton, Clitherall, Deer Creek, Henning, New York Mills, Ottertail, Parkers Prairie, Urbank and parts of Wadena.

The open house will begin with several brief presentations by county staff, providing updates and overviews of important work in the area. Additional staff will also be in attendance to answer questions and share information.

• Updates from the Otter Tail County Emergency Medical Services Task Force will be shared, offering information about the collaborative work surrounding the sustainability of emergency medical services throughout the County.

• Krysten Foster, County Engineer, will present a brief overview of the upcoming long-range transportation planning effort and how citizens can be involved in setting highway and bridge investment priorities for the coming decades.

• Heather Jacobson, County Assessor, will give a brief presentation about 2024 property valuations, including the CPI conversion and address questions regarding the board of appeal and equalization meetings in April. The event will take place at the New York Mills City Center, located at 118 North Main Avenue, with the meeting held in the council chambers on the second floor of the building.
