No one said supporting the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association must be all work and no play. Sometimes, supporting MSGA’s advocacy efforts is as simple as teeing up a golf ball and smashing it down the fairway. OK, well that might be easier for some than others, but the idea is the same: Play golf and support an organization that has farmers’ backs in the Legislature through protecting crop inputs.

Building off the success of the Biodiesel Open, MSGA is proud to announce the inaugural Beck’s Soybean Classic on Monday, June 17, at the Perham Lakeside Golf Course in Perham. Registration is now open for four-person teams. The cost is $130 per person or $500 per team. The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart, dinner and drink tickets. Deadline to register is May 31. Sponsorship opportunities are also available by contacting Amanda Beavens at  abeavens@agmgmtsolutions.com.

“We are very excited to add this new event and bring it to our growers and supporters in the northern part of the state,” said MSGA President Bob Worth. “Participating in the Beck’s Soybean Classic hosted by MSGA is a great way you can support our advocacy efforts in St. Paul and Washington, D.C.”

Partnering with MSGA on a new golf event made perfect sense for Beck’s, a longtime sponsor of MSGA activities, including MN Ag Expo and Soybean Business.

“Through our strong partnership with MSGA, Beck’s has been given the opportunity to advance our mission of helping farmers succeed,” says Aaron Nordly, Minnesota area team leader at Beck’s. “The Beck’s Soybean Classic hosted by MSGA is just one of the unique opportunities we can build strong connections with Minnesota farmers, and we couldn’t be more excited.”

MSGA continues to take a strong, proactive stand to protect crop inputs and ensure they remain in the toolbox for Minnesota’s over 25,000 soybean farmers. Growers need all the products at their disposal to stay ahead of the game and safeguard against yield-robbing pests and diseases. Thanks to the support of members and industry partners like Beck’s, MSGA works with lawmakers and regulators in St. Paul and Washington, D.C., to protect crop inputs and prevent unnecessary restrictions and fees on the use of agriculture chemicals.

“We’re proud to join farm advocacy groups in working together to prevent the passage of legislation that would restrict our farmers’ freedom to farm,” said MSGA Executive Director Joe Smentek. “Fundraisers such as the Beck’s Soybean Classic help us help farmers and keep our boots on the ground at the Capitol.”
