The VFW Post 3289 Auxiliary met March 14 with 12 members present.

Minutes from the February 8 meeting were approved, and the February 29 Treasurer’s Report was filed subject to audit.

The General Orders Bulletin for March 2024 from the Department President was read and discussed.  Minnesota’s VFW Auxiliary will be celebrating the 100th Anniversary next year.  The Minnesota State VFW Convention will be June 13-16 in Rochester.  Thank you notes were received from the Fergus Falls Veterans Home for Valentine Day cards and a monetary donation to support resident recreational programming with a bingo sponsorship.  Cards were also received from two military service members who received a holiday soldier care package.

Committee Chairs gave an update on our programs for 2023-24. Information was shared about sewing heart pillows for veterans at the VA hospitals. There were more than 100 entries in the “Illustrating America” youth art contest.

In other business

• Approved payment of bills.

• Approved a medical grant for family of an Auxiliary member.

• The February 24 “Puzzles, Pizza and a Pitcher” event was successful, raising more than $750 for the club for a new stove in the kitchen.

• Several members will attend the District 9 meeting in East Grand Forks on March 16.

• Discussed the menu and schedule for the March 27 Civil Servant Recognition meal.

• The VFW Club will provide a free dinner to Veterans on March 29 for National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

• Electronics will be collected for recycling by a Veteran on Saturday, April 20 (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills.

• Appointed delegates and alternates for the April 27 District 9 Convention in Pelican Rapids.  It is also “Loyalty Days” honoring deceased members for the past year and electing District officers.

• Appointed delegates and alternates for the June State Convention.

• Rescheduled the June meeting from the 13th to 20th due to a conflict with the state convention.
