0West Central Initiative is accepting applications now through Tuesday, April 30, for grant funding to support sustainability, equity, democracy, and rural social connection projects in our region.
Rebecca Lynn Petersen, Director of Development at West Central Initiative, emphasized the importance of these grant opportunities in promoting a healthy and resilient region. “Sustainability, equity, democracy, and connection are essential pillars for our communities,” said Petersen. “This year, we’ve broadened our grant offerings from Resilient Communities Grants to West Central Initiative Grants, aligning with these four crucial priorities.”
West Central Initiative will award grants in four focus areas:
• Sustainability Grants will support community- led projects and nonprofits with a focus on sustainability and climate action.
• Equity Grants will support organizations working to make our region more equitable by supporting historically marginalized populations.
• Democracy Grants will support nonpartisan organizations that are strengthening rural democracy in our region.
• Rural Social Isolation Grants will support organizations working to create wellness ecosystems that strengthen community bonds, combat social isolation, and promote mental health initiatives in rural communities.
Most grants will range from $3,000 to $10,000—although organizations may receive funding in more than one focus area and up to $25,000.
West Central Initiative will host information webinars on Tuesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. and Friday, April 26, at 11 a.m. to explain the guidelines and be available to answer questions.
