The New York Mills Eagles split a pair of games last week to improve to 2-3 overall. The Eagles fell to Pillager by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday night, before edging the Frazee Hornets by a score of 5-3 on Thursday.

This week the Eagles will host Sebeka on Tuesday night, before traveling to Henning on Thursday to take on Otter Tail Central. On Friday the Eagles’ busy week will come to an end with a unique four team invite. The Eagles will host Cherry at 12 p.m., before playing South Ridge at 6 p.m. Ashby will also be participating in the baseball action on Friday as well.

A Finn Roder bunt with the bases loaded tied NY Mills’ game against Pillager at 1-1 in the top of the fifth inning on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, Pillager scored on a fielding error in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead and hand NY Mills a 2-1 loss.

Despite being down 2-1, the Eagles had a chance to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning when Grady Roberts hit a single to lead off the inning. He was moved to second base by an Isaac Kawlewski sacrifice bunt, but was stranded at second base to end the game.

Dashaun Robinson took the tough loss on the mound as he pitched six innings and struck out nine hitters. He gave up a pair of unearned runs in the loss.

NY Mills was outhit by a 9-5 margin, but the Eagles were able to string their hits together just enough to come away with a 5-3 win over Frazee on Thursday night.

The Eagles took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning when Dashaun Robinson hit a two-run triple to make the score 2-0 in favor of NY Mills.

Sam Kopveiler led off the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run to make the score 3-0.

After Frazee scored a pair of runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Eagles, NY Mills answered with a two out rally in the top of the sixth inning.

Braxton Ehnert earned a two out walk, before Blake Unger put runners on second and third base with a double. Grady Roberts came through with a clutch hit with two outs as he hit a two-run single to make the score 5-2 in favor of the Eagles.

Frazee added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Eagles came away with an important 5-3 non-conference win.

Roberts led the way offensively with a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Robinson collected a single and two RBIs.

Isaac Kawlewski picked up the win on the mound as he gave up 9 hits, but just one earned run over 6 2/3 innings. He also struck out six hitters and didn’t walk a batter.
