Vehicle tires, rims stolen at Big Pine Lake near Perham

Sheriff deputies reported a farm fatality north of Parkers Prairie which took place early afternoon on May 7. The name of the victim is Kyle Olson, 28, of Parkers Prairie.

The victim, who at first sustained critical injuries, had been working with others to repair a piece of tillage equipment. Part of the machinery fell on top of him and pinned him underneath.

Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful and the victim died at the scene of the accident. Responding to the work area were personnel from Parkers Prairie including the city’s fire department and ambulance service in addition to sheriff deputies and North Ambulance.

Traffic injuries

Three people were injured in eastern Otter Tail County on May 10, northwest of New York Mills. This was a two-vehicle crash, with the victims taken to the hospital in Perham.

A Chevrolet was southbound on County Road 137 and a Honda was westbound on Highway 10 when the vehicles collided. 

Injured were Zachary Austin Lopez, 26, of Bluffton, and two people from Shakopee, Minn., 55-year-old John Vincent Markert and 20-year-old Katherine Elizabeth Markert. All received non-life-threatening injuries.

Responding to the scene of the accident were members of the New York Mills fire department and police department as well as county sheriff deputies and ambulance services.

Another accident with an injury took place at 7:30 p.m. May 11 at the intersection of Highways 10 and 80, near Perham. This was a rollover, according to sheriff deputies. Taken to the Perham hospital as a precautionary measure was a 54-year-old man from Fargo.

Authorities said alcohol was involved with this accident.

Vehicle tires stolen

Four tires and rims were stolen from a parked vehicle at Big Pine Lake west of Perham. The vehicle has been parked there over the winter and early spring months.

The owner discovered the theft on May 11 and called sheriff deputies. Total value of the stolen items was estimated at close to $800.
