Austin Maneval struck out 12 hitters in just five innings and gave up just two hits as the New York Mills Millers defeated the Staples Lumberbats by a score of 10-0 on Sunday afternoon. Maneval didn’t give up a walk and was efficient throughout the game against Staples.

Logan Small pitched the final three innings of the game and gave up just one hit and two walks, while striking out five hitters of his own. The Millers outhit the Lumberbats by a 10-3 margin.

The Millers wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as Small hit an RBI single to bring Derin Gaudette across the plate in the top of the first inning. The Millers added another run in the top of the third inning on a Maneval fielder’s choice and broke the game open with a seven run top of the eighth inning that was highlighted by a pair of two-run singles by Zack Hocking and Maneval.

Gaudette, Small and Waylen Fudge each finished the game with two hits apiece.

The Millers will return to action on Friday night when they travel to Henning to take on the North Stars at 7:30 p.m. They will also travel to Deer Creek on Saturday night to take on the Shockers at 7:30 p.m., before hosting Dent on Friday, May 31 in their home opener.
