Event set for June 10 at Vergas Event Center

Otter Tail County Commissioners will host a community event at the Vergas Event Center at 140 West Linden Street on Monday, June 10, from 7-9 p.m. This is not a board of commissioners meeting. This event provides an opportunity for community members to interact with commissioners and learn about various projects and initiatives happening in the Vergas area.

Commissioner Wayne Johnson, District 2, encourages residents to stop by the open house.

“I encourage the residents of Vergas and the surrounding area to join us at the open house. Your input is valuable as we work together to address issues and work for positive changes in our communities,” he said.

Employees from multiple service teams will be present to share information and address questions from attendees.

Highlights of the event include:

• Brief Presentation on Transportation Plan: County Highway Engineer Krysten Foster will provide insights into the transportation plan.

• Economic Development Updates: Community Development Direct Amy Baldwin will discuss the county’s exciting new housing programs.

• Overview of Vacation Home Rental Ordinance: Staff from the Land and Resource Management Department will present a summary of the new Vacation Home Rental Ordinance proposed for 2024.

• Introduction of New Public Information and Education Officer: Meet Clancy Oliphant, the new Public Information and Education Officer, and learn about the services she provides regarding waste management in area communities.

After the presentations, residents will have the opportunity to speak directly with county commissioners, ask questions and provide feedback. Light refreshments will be served, and everyone is welcome to attend.
