The New York Mills Eagles got their sub section tournament off to a quick start on Thursday as the Eagles cruised to an 11-0 win over Cass Lake-Bena. 

The Eagles didn’t give up a hit until there was one out in the top of the fifth inning and retired 12 hitters in a row leading up to that hit. Dashaun Robinson struck out five hitters in just two innings of action, while Teagan Lausten struck out all three hitters he faced in the third inning, Isaac Kawlewski and Sam Kopveiler each struck out two hitters in one inning of action.

Lausten, Robinson, Blake Unger and Finn Roder each picked up two hits to lead the way offensively. 

NY Mills outhit the Bears by a 10-1 margin.

The Section 5A tournament will continue on Tuesday when the top seeded Eagles (14-6 overall), will take on fourth seeded Sebeka at 5 p.m. in NY Mills. The winner of the game will take on either third seeded Walker-Hackensack-Akeley or second seeded Nevis on Thursday at the high seed.

The Section 5A tournament will wrap up next week at Hellie Field in Pierz. The Section 5A semi-finals will be held on Monday, while the section finals will be held on Thursday.
