Caden Roberts was nearly perfect on May 23 as the NY Mills Millers pitcher retired the final 15 hitters in a row and 25 of the final 26 hitters he faced on his way to a one hit 2-0 shutout win over Deer Creek. The only hitter in the final eight innings of action to reach base safely came on a dropped third strike in the bottom of the fifth inning. The lone hit and walk he gave up came in the bottom of the first inning. He gave up just one hit and one walk, while striking out six hitters.

Caden Roberts threw a complete game shutout during New York Mills’ game against Deer Creek.

NY Mills took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning when Collin Teich scored on a fielder’s choice and Jonah Johnson scored on an error to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Millers. It would be the only runs the Millers would score all game as both teams combined for just five hits.

Zach Hocking led the way offensively for the Millers as he went 2-4 from the plate.

On Friday night the Millers will host Nimrod at 7:30 p.m., before traveling to Bluffton on Sunday for an afternoon tilt kicking off at 1:30 p.m.
