Wildlife habitat easements approved

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service representatives appeared before the county board of commissioners in late May and requested certification of three wildlife habitat protection easements. Documentation was previously submitted regarding the requests.
A motion by Commissioner Wayne Johnson of Pelican Rapids and seconded by Commissioner Dan Bucholz of Perham was approved by the five-person county board. Approval came with the understanding that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife office will supply the county board with additional information.
Storage units approval delayed
County commissioners tabled a conditional use permit request for a project consisting of 20 non-dwelling storage units located at 205th Avenue, Pelican Rapids, Section 24 of Scambler Township.
There will be consultation with the Soil and Water Conservation District and Scambler Township board as well as discussions regarding final staking of the project area. The delay was recommended to commissioners by the county planning commission which previously addressed the project.
Public safety grant approved
A motion by Commissioner Lee Rogness of Fergus Falls and seconded by Commissioner Dan Bucholz of Perham was unanimously carried to authorized to execute a contract between Otter Tail County and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for an Emergency Management Performance Grant. The grant totals $41,727.
