The VFW Post 3289 Auxiliary met May 9 with 15 members present.

Minutes from the April 11 meeting were approved, and the April 30 Treasurer’s Report was filed subject to audit.

The General Orders Bulletin for May 2024 from the Department President was read and discussed.

The Auxiliary received the following awards at the Loyalty Day/District 9 Convention on April 27 in Pelican Rapids:

• First place awards in the Illustrating America Contest for Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8; Buddy Poppy/National Home; Veterans and Family Support; and Best Year End Report for the Auxiliary Outreach program.

• Second place award for Outstanding Work with Youth.

• Certificates of Appreciation for adoption of Veterans at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home; Special Recognition of Members; Paid Memberships; and participation in five Scholarship programs.

Thank you notes were received from two families that received medical grants.

Committee Chairs gave an update on our programs for 2023-2024.

In other business

• Memorial Day activities on May 27 include a service at the school at 10 a.m. and refreshments at the VFW after the program.

• Approved a donation to Freshwater Education District 6004 and a medical grant to a local family.

• Draped the Charter for Past National President Patricia Jankowski and 5th District President Judi Olson.

• The Auxiliary will serve breakfast from 8-11 a.m. on Sunday, June 9 for the Ronald McDonald House Ride.

• The Community Appreciation and Flag Retirement Ceremony will be Friday, June 21.

• Congratulations to Shirley Quist, who was recently elected as 9th District President.

  Due to the June convention, our next Auxiliary meeting will be Thursday, June 20 at 6 p.m.
