Vaughn Auto to make repairs to sidewalks

The New York MIlls EDA has approved a downtown grant for Vaughn Auto to make repeais to the west side of their building and sidewalk repairs.

The New York Mills Economic Development Authority met for its monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 17 at the city hall chambers.

The revolving loan fund balance sits at $130,916.77 and all loans are current.

The EDA wanted to thank former NY Mills School Superintendent Blaine Novak for his years of service on the board and welcomed the new superintendent Adam Johnson into the role during the meeting.

One application for the Downtown Grant program was recommended by the committee for Vaughan Auto and Marine to complete a paving project on the west side of their building in conjunction with the paving project being done on that side of the Old Ten Center building. The board approved the application.

Julie Roberts said that no new lots have been sold in the Country View Addition and that the TIF district would be decertified after the end of this year. This would open up possibilities for the city to be more creative in selling the lots. There are seven lots remaining in the development.

The South Point Apartment building is continuing to be completed. Tours began earlier this summer and tours involving the city are in the works. Numbers for rent and rental units are being sought for an information sheet that the city will prepare.

The Community Resource Center project was brought up again as Novak was the point person for the NY Mills area. Johnson said he would take on the responsibilities of spearheading the NY Mills campaign.

The West Central Minnesota Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has resources for retiring businesspeople to find new owners for their businesses.

Heard that the Miller Street Block Party, LundMania, and the Fish House Festival all went well. The annual Corn Feed is set for August 16 and the grand opening for the Continental Divide Brew Pub is set for August 23-24.

The next EDA meeting will be held on August 21 at 8:30 a.m. in the city hall chambers.
