Chloe Costin and Alayna Baune attempt to block a shot during Tuesday’s regular season opener.

The New York Mills Eagles kicked off their season last Tuesday night with a thrilling 3-2 win over Frazee.

The Eagles will hope to keep that momentum going this week as they will host Henning on Thursday night in their Park Region Conference opener. On Tuesday the Eagles will hit the road and travel to Park Christian in Moorhead for a non-conference game against the Falcons.

NY Mills will be led into action this season by seven returning letter winners including seniors: Kalyn Balbach, Alayna Baune, Ayla Olson and Belle Vaden, as well as juniors: Gabi Vaden and Annika Dunrud, and sophomore Chiloe Costin.

While the Eagles are returning a good part of their line up from last year, head coach Tammy Olson said a number of the team members are playing in new positions this season.

“We have many returning players, but we have moved some of them into different positions on the court,” she said. “We hope to improve our play match by match.”
