Eighth ranked Yellowjackets edge Cardinals 6-1

The eighth ranked Perham Yellowjacket tennis team upended seventh ranked Staples-Motley 6-1 on Thursday night. The lone loss for the Yellowjackets came at first singles when state ranked Ronnie Noska, of Staples-Motley, was able to squeak by Kaia Anderson 6-4, 6-2.
All six wins for Perham came in straight sets as Alayna Moe won 6-1, 6-3 at second singles and Autumn Branchaud picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth singles.
At third singles, Violet Radniecki won her 14th straight match by a commanding 6-0, 6-1 margin over Andrea Digiovanni
At first doubles the duo of Morgan Smith and Aubry Zimmerman defeated Corinne Olson and Natalie Hanson by a tight 7-5 margin in the first set, before coming away with a 6-3 win in the second set.
At second doubles Bella Huwe and Lucy Wallgren swept Kaylee Perius and Charlie Noska by a 6-2, 6-3 margin, before Andie Janke and Miley Anderson completed the Perham sweep of doubles with a 6-4, 7-5 win at third doubles.
Thursday’s win over the Cardinals was the third win over a ranked opponent this season as the Yellowjackets also defeated 10th ranked Crookston and ninth ranked Thief River Falls.
