The New York Mills Eagles fell to 1-3 on the season on Friday night with a 34-0 loss to Walker-Hackensack-Akeley. The loss was the third time this season that the Eagles were shut out on the scoreboard and head coach Matt Radniecki said the team did not come out ready to play on Friday night.

“Not much to say about this game. We were not ready to play and Walker came out ready and ready to get a win,” he said. “I was disappointed in our effort and we are better than what we played tonight against Walker. We just can’t keep giving up big plays at crucial times in games. It is really hurting our team and what we are trying to do on offense and defense.:

The Eagles, who are 1-3 on the season, will look to rebound this week against their Highway 10 rival from just down the road in Wadena-Deer Creek. The game will be held in Wadena and kick off at 7 p.m.

The Eagles come into the game with a record of 1-3 and average 8.8 points per game on offense and give up 38.8 points per game on defense. Their lone win was a 26-16 win over Pine River-Backus and last week the Wolverines lost to Parkers Prairie by a score of 53-0.

NY Mills comes into the game averaging just 4.8 points per game on offense, but their defense has been stingy by giving up just 19 points per game on defense.

“I am looking forward to playing Wadena next Friday as this should be an easy game for us to get up for.  We need to get this win on Friday and we look forward to having a big crowd on hand to support the team and get us going for the victory,” said Radniecki.
