Sheriff deputies, on Oct. 8, reported one injury in a roadway accident at a location known as Cabbage Corner northeast of Fergus Falls on County Highway 1. The accident took place at 10:27 a.m.
A 77-year-old male from Richville crossed over the center line and sideswiped an oncoming feed truck driven by a 49-year-old male from Rothsay. The driver from Richville needed to be extricated from his vehicle but sustained only minor injuries. Seatbelts were worn by both individuals.
Deputies said that both vehicles suffered incapacitating damage. Charges were pending on the 77-year-old male for crossing the center line.
Scam reported
A county resident could possibly be out $20,000 after giving out bank information to a scammer. It is possible the bank could stop payment but this was not as yet determined as of Oct. 9.
Sheriff deputies said the county resident, town not listed, found his computer had locked up. There was a number listed as where to call, which was from the scammer, and he called and also gave out personal bank information.
After realizing this was a scam, the resident called the sheriff office and contacted the bank which worked to hopefully cancel the transaction.
County residents are warned by law enforcement than when a computer locks up, shut your computer off. If this doesn’t work, press control-alt-delete. If the latter does not work call the sheriff office or your trusted computer center help desk.
