0Yellowjackets fall to Cardinals 4-3 to end season

The Perham/New York Mills tennis team had its perfect season come to an end at the Section 8A tournament from Oct. 10-12 in Fargo.
The top seeded and undefeated Yellowjackets made quick work of eighth seeded Wadena-Deer Creek in the second round of the tournament at Courts Plus Community Fitness by a 6-1 score.
Each of the six team wins for the Yellowjackets came in straight sets with Kaia Anderson defeating Charli Snyder 6-4, 6-0; Alayna Moe defeating Isabelle Lehmkuhl 6-0, 6-1; Violet Radniecki defeating Emma Weniger 6-0, 6-1 and Autumn Branchaud picking up a 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles over Ellie Golberg.
In the doubles matches, Lucy Wallgren and Bella Huwe won at second doubles 6-1, 6-1, while Miley Anderson and Andie Janke won at third doubles 6-4, 6-1.
The lone loss for the Yellowjackets came at first doubles when Morgan Smith and Aubry Zimmerman fell to the Wolverine team of Anna Fiemeyer and Kaylee Enders.
In the semi-finals, the Perham/NY Mills team suffered what would be its first and only loss of the season as they fell to fourth seeded Staples-Motley 4-3.
The Yellowjackets and Cardinals split the singles matches with Alayna Moe and Violet Radniecki picking up wins for the Yellowjackets at second and third singles. Moe defeated Corinne Olson 6-3, 6-0 at second singles, while Radniecki defeated Jaida Hoist 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 to come away with a second win at singles.
Kaia Anderson lost her first singles match in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 and Autumn Branchaud fell at fourth singles by a 6-3, 6-4 margin.
Unfortunately, the Yellowjackets were unable to secure the necessary two wins at doubles as their lone win came in straight sets at second doubles as Lucy Wallgren and Bella Huwe defeated Natalie Hanson and Sarah Kroll 6-3, 6-4.
In the other doubles matches, Aubry Zimmerman and Morgan Smith fell at first doubles by a score of 6-3, 6-3, while Miley Anderson and Andie Janke fell at third doubles by a score of 6-3, 6-2.
The Cardinals would go on to fall to second seeded Crookston 4-3 in the section finals.
In the individual tournament, Kaia Anderson advanced to the semi-finals of the singles tournament and took fourth place overall after losing 6-3, 6-1 in the third place match.
Autumn Branchaud also competed in the singles tournament but did not place in the tournament as she fell to Ella Ehler of Park Rapids 6-1, 6-2.
In the doubles tournament, Morgan Smith and Aubry Zimmerman were seeded fourth and placed fourth after falling to the top seed from Thief River Falls in the semi-finals 7-5, 6-1 and to second seeded Addie Fee and Kaylie Clauson from Crookston 6-0, 6-3 in the third place match.
The second doubles team of Violet Radniecki and Alayna Moe won their first game 6-4, 6-4 over Anna Helling and Brooke Schilling 6-4, 6-4, before falling to the eventual section champion Anna Fiemeyer and Kaylee Enders 6-2, 6-2 to end their season.
