The Minnesota Association of Small Cities (MAOSC) recently honored Sen. Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) with its 2024 Legislative Champion Award for his exemplary work on behalf of small cities. This award is given each year to state legislators who show strong leadership in supporting city leaders’ ability to make decisions for their communities and ensuring they have the resources needed to grow and succeed.

“Standing up for the unique needs of the communities and cities I represent is always a top priority,” said Sen. Rasmusson. “This award is a testament to the hard work of many people in our small cities, and I’m grateful to work alongside organizations like MAOSC to ensure these communities have a strong voice at the state Capitol.”

Sen. Rasmusson, who represents 45 small cities, was recognized by MAOSC for his dedication to addressing the unique challenges faced by these communities. One of his most significant accomplishments during the 2024 legislative session was his advocacy for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) funding. Despite the session being a non-budget year, Sen. Rasmusson successfully secured vital funding to support EMS services in rural areas, helping to ensure that residents in small cities have access to essential emergency care.

“Senator Rasmusson has always been a strong advocate on behalf of small cities. His work this last session was yet another example of his dedication and commitment to our communities and finding solutions to our challenges,” said Cap O’Rourke, MAOSC executive director.

The Minnesota Association of Small Cities (MAOSC) is a nonprofit organization that advocates exclusively on behalf of Minnesota’s more than 700 small cities with populations of 5,000 or less. For more than four decades, MAOSC has provided a strong voice and meaningful representation for issues specific to small cities. For more information, please visit www.maosc.org.
