Longest Night Music Festival is set for Dec. 21

The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is hosting its 16th annual Longest Night Music Festival on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.

The Longest Night is a celebratory live music event that brings together an eclectic group of beloved local and regional musical artists to each play a short set. The spirit of the event is to share in merrymaking and music-making on the winter solstice, the longest night of the year.

This year’s line-up currently includes Amanda Standalone (Crosby), Amber Sazama and Lisa Winter (Wadena), Ben Ranson (Sandstone), Caitlin Robertson (Northfield), Dan Whitehead (Ottertail), Dave Virnala (NY Mills) – tentative, Dylan Selander (NY Mills), Elliot Frost (NY Mills), Keith Johnson (Henning) and Aaron Johnson (Moorhead), Kevin Mastel (NY Mills) and Kip Peltoniemi (NY Mills). Storyteller Claire Zindler (Otter Tail County) and Writer Lizzie Lawson – Visiting Artist – Writer (Minneapolis) will share stories/readings as well.

These performing artists will deliver an array of styles, sounds and vibes sure to please a variety of musical preferences. In between acts, there is time to converse with your neighbors and take a moment to enjoy some connections amidst a busy holiday season.

The music begins at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Concert is free to attend and ALL are welcome to this annual night of gratitude, community connections, and local live music. Light refreshments and cash bar available. Donations gratefully accepted to support working artists, this event, and all Cultural Center programs.

This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
