With just one month to go prior to the section team and individual wrestling tournament the New York Mills Eagles went 1-2 in three duals last week.

Blake Unger won by forfeit last week, but prior to the start of the match the New York Mills senior was honored for picking up his 100th career win.

The Eagles dropped a pair of matches against Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville on Thursday night, before defeating Pelican Rapids by a score of 40-31 on senior night in NY Mills on Friday.

This week the Eagles will travel to Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday for an afternoon dual against the Wolverines. Tuesday’s match in Wadena will get underway at 1:30 p.m. 

On Thursday the Eagles will host United North Central in a dual beginning at 6 p.m. 

Thursday

NY Mills dropped a pair of matches against Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville on Thursday night.

In their match against the Raiders, the Eagles picked up three wins, including a 7-1 decision by Creed Mursu at 133 lbs. over Hudson Truax, as well as a pin by Joe Mann over Eli Holmquist at 172 lbs. Also picking up a win for the Eagles was Blake Unger who received a forfeit at 189 lbs.

Ultimately, the Eagles fell to BHVPP by a score of 58-15. In their other match of the night the Eagles fell to LPGEB by a score of 52-16.

Friday

NY Mills dominated the upper weights and came away with a 40-31 win over Pelican Rapids on Friday night. 

Prior to the start of the match the Eagles, who were wrestling in the high school gym at a busy night at the school with a boys basketball game also being held at NY Mills, honored the seniors as part of senior night. The team also recognized senior Blake Unger who picked up his 100th career win earlier this month.
