Eagles winning streak hits seven games as NYM improves to 12-5

The New York Mills Eagles are hitting their stride right as they get into the thick of their Park Region Conference schedule.
The Eagles increased their winning streak to seven games in a row last week and have won eight of their nine games since the start of the New Year.
Last week the Eagles picked up four wins in an extremely busy week on the court as they defeated Verndale by a score of 82-14 on Monday, Browerville-Eagle Valley by a score of 72-12 on Tuesday, Sebeka by a score of 72-39 on Thursday and Battle Lake by a score of 57-36 on Saturday.
The Eagles, who are now 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the Park Region Conference, will have a bit of a reprieve of sorts from the court as they travel to Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday in their lone action of the week.

January 14
NY Mills led early and never looked back as they defeated the Henning Hornets by a score of 67-30 on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The Eagles led by a score of 39-13 at halftime as they put on a tough defensive performance that surrendered just two field goals int he first half. In fact, NY Mills gave up just seven field goals to Henning in the entire game.
Ayla Olson nearly outscored the entire Henning team herself as she scored 26 points, including 16 points in the second half, to lead the way for the Eagles.
Gabi Vaden equaled the entire Hornet team in the first half as she scored 13 of her 20 points in the opening 18 minutes of action. She hit three 3-pointers in the first half as well.
Alayna Baune scored six points, Rosemary Laudenbach scored five points, Kylee Lehmann and Violet Radniecki each scored three points, while Alise Schornack and Chloe Costin rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
January 16
NY Mills hit 13 free throws and once again leaned on their defense to come away with a 48-24 win over the Sebeka Trojans on January 16. NY Mills led by a score of 18-14 at halftime and picked up the pace on the offensive end of the court in the final 18 minutes of action to come away with an important Park Region Conference win.
The Eagles were once again led by a balanced scoring attack with seven girls reaching the scoring column.
Ayla Olson led the way with 16 points after hitting a pair of 3-pointers, while Alayna Baune also reached double figures in the paint by scoring 11 points in the win.
Gabi Vaden and Rosemary Laudenbach each scored seven points, while Chloe Costin scored three points in the second half. Kylee Lehmann and Violet Radniecki rounded out the scoring with one point apiece.
Monday
The Eagles gave up just six total field goals and a pair of free throws as they overwhelmed the Verndale Pirates by a score of 82-14. NY Mills held a 47-7 lead at halftime and continued to find success in the second half as 10 players reached the scoring column in the win.
Alayna Baune and Ayla Olson dominated the Pirates down low as both senors outscored the entire Verndale team themselves with 17 points in the game. Gabi Vaden equaled Verndale in the scoring column with 14 points, while Chloe Costin also reached double figures with 10 points.
Rosemary Laudenbach and Annika Dunrud both scored eight points, Kylee Lehmann scored four points, Violet Radniecki scored two points and Ellyana Ruther rounded out the scoring with one point.
Tuesday
NY Mills picked up its second straight lopsided win of the week on Tuesday as the Eagles defeated the Browerville Tigers by a score of 72-12.
The Eagles led by a score of 44-9 at halftime and surrendered just three points in the second half as a number of reserve players were able to get some extended action on the court.
The senior post duo of Ayla Olson and Aylana Baune once again dominated the game down low as Olson finished with 25 points and Baune finished with 12 points. Gabi Vaden scored all 11 of her points in the first half, while Annika Dunrud scored nine points, Chloe Costin scored eight, Rosemary Laudenbach scored four, Ellyana Ruther and Violet Radniecki rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
Thursday
The Eagles once again came out of the gates on fire on Thursday night as NY Mills overwhelmed Sebeka in the opening half of action as they took a 41-17 lead at the halftime break. NY Mills continued to find success in the second half, especially from behind the 3-point line as they knocked down 13 3-pointers as a team on their way to a 72-39 win over the Sebeka Trojans.
Ayla Olson led the charge for the Eagles as she scored 18 points, while Gabi Vaden hit three 3-pointers on her way to a 13-point night. Rosemary Laudenbach scored 12 points after knocking down four 3-pointers, while Annika Dunrud hit three 3-pointers to finish with 11 points.
Violet Radniecki knocked down two 3-pointers to finish with eight points, Alayna Baune scored seven points and Chloe Costin rounded out the scoring with three points.
Friday
It was reigning 3-pointers once again for the NY Mills Eagles as the team hit 10 3-pointers in the game, led by Annika Dunrud who hit six 3-pointers of her own, as the Eagles defeated Battle Lake by a score of 57-36 on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles led by a score of 31-21 at halftime, but surrendered just 15 points in the final 18 minutes of action to come away with its seventh straight game.
Dunrud led the way in the scoring column for the Eagles with 18 points, while Ayla Olson finished with 17 of her own. Gabi Vaden scored 11 points, while Rosemary Laudenbach, Chloe Costin and Violet Radniecki each scored three points and Dixie Dykhoff rounded out the scoring with two points.
