Eagles receive sixth seed in section tournament

Creed Mursu secured his 100th career victory when he picked up a win during last week’s match against Otter Tail Central.

A pair of New York Mills Eagles reached a career milestone in their regular season finale on Thursday night. 

Creed Mursu picked up his 100th career win on Thursday, while head coach Eric Niemi secured his 350th career win with Thursday’s 62-12 win over the visiting Bulldogs. 

This week the Eagles, who finished the regular season with a record of 8-10 overall, will open the Section 6A tournament on Friday night in Pelican Rapids against third seeded Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville. The team wrestling tournament will be held at Pelican Rapids High School on Friday.

Next week the Eagles will be participating in the individual section tournament that will be held at Wadena-Deer Creek High School beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14.
