Dawson Redenius Septet will perform at the Cultural Center in New York Mills on Friday night.

The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center continues its highly anticipated 2025 Winter/Spring Concert Series with a vibrant performance by the Dawson Redenius Septet on Friday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m.

This season, the Cultural Center is testing a “pay as you’re able” model, ensuring that everyone can experience world-class live music, regardless of financial barriers. This initiative is made possible by a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council, with funding from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. The Cultural Center extends their gratitude to LRAC for making this possible.

Join the Cultural Center for an unforgettable evening of jazz with the Dawson Redenius Septet—a powerhouse ensemble of top-tier jazz musicians from the Twin Cities and the Chippewa Valley. Known for their dynamic improvisation and masterful blend of swing, blues, and modern jazz, this group delivers a performance inspired by the progressive sounds of New Orleans.

Formed in 2024, the ensemble’s energetic and cohesive arrangements make for an electrifying performance that celebrates jazz’s rich heritage while pushing creative boundaries. Led by trumpeter and visionary bandleader Dawson Redenius, the Septet brings a compelling energy to every performance.

Adding to the evening’s excitement, the concert will also feature two remarkable guest performers: Ashley Gonzalez—a standout talent in the Twin Cities jazz scene whose tap dancing brings a unique rhythmic layer to the group’s sound; and Hannah Durham—a Las Vegas native and beloved vocalist in the Chippewa Valley whose soulful voice adds warmth and depth to the performance.

The evening will feature a cash bar and light refreshments, and all are welcome to attend this one-of-a-kind jazz experience.

This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
