Elijah Geiser, Payton Lausten and Soren Stout competed at the 20th annual Lumberjack Bemidji Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 22.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, the New York Mills speech competed at the 20th Lumberjack Bemidji Invitational. This was a daunting and difficult meet; 25 teams attended, many of whom the NY Mills team do not cross paths with all season. The coaches are so proud of these three upperclassman for holding their own, despite the challenge:

• Elijah Geiser – third place in Poetry with his interpretation of the poem “Ren” by Ren Gills.

• Payton Lausten – third place in Prose with her Interpretation of Taylor Jenkin Reid’s New York Times Bestselling Novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

• Soren Stout – third place in Discussion (this year’s discussion tasks surround the nature of work post-pandemic).
