A vacant lot in downtown Deer Creek could soon become home to an expanded outdoor seating area for Wet Woody’s Pub and Grub.
During its regularly scheduled meeting last Monday night, the Deer Creek City Council approved selling the city-owned lot located in-between Wet Woody’s and the Deer Creek museum. The lot was gifted to the city several years ago and has been a vacant lot for quite some time.
After hearing an interest from the owners of Wet Woody’s Pub and Grub to purchase the lot, the city council sought sealed bids for the vacant lot. The city received a high bid of $1,500 and approved selling the lot to the local bar and grill. The owners stated they would like to use a portion of the lot for an expanded outdoor dining area with the remainder being converted into additional parking. They are also planning to install a fence on the east and west side of the property for additional privacy.
The biggest question from the city council last week concerned the legal description of the vacant lot. There was a question whether the city should update the legal description to more clearly define the property lines prior to the sale, but the city council agreed to sell the lot as is in order to avoid any additional costs in selling the lot.
Reportedly the patio, which is estimated to take up 2/3 of the vacant lot, will be a concrete patio and the remaining 1/3 of the property will be used as additional off-street parking.
The property line for the vacant lot is about 7-8 feet from the current Deer Creek museum building.
