One doesn’t need to look very hard to see the family values coming to the forefront at Esser Plumbing and Heating. A family owned business since 1955, the Perham-based company is now in its third generation of family ownership and many of the guiding principles from those early days still reign true today.

“We are a third generation owned company. There are still a lot of the family values that go into the business. We take care of our (employees),” said Chris Laudenbach of Esser Plumbing and Heating. “We want them to go to basketball games, choir concerts and that kind of stuff.”

The Esser brand has long been synonymous with quality work, completed by many of the same people one sees at a grocery store, school function or even a neighbor down the road. Even as the company continues to grow, the focus on staying an integral and visible part of the community means many Essers employees work in the same region they live in as well.

With companies in Fargo, N.D., Detroit Lakes and Perham, Esser Plumbing and Heating covers a large part of the Highway 10 corridor. Laudenbach said the company primarily covers from Fargo to Verndale and everywhere in-between.

“We pretty much work the whole Highway 10 corridor,” he said.

Serving the lakes area since 1955, Esser Plumbing and Heating in Perham provides many services like all plumbing services including water softening/conditioning, water quality upgrades, pumps, water heater repair and replacement and plumbing remodeling. They also do all HVAC services including maintenance and repair, indoor air quality equipment, air conditioners, geothermal units and air exchanges.

Laudenbach said the company works on everything from new residential and commercial projects to repairs and maintenance for companies and residences of all sizes.

In the heart of lakes country they complete cabin winterization and openings, water conditioning, clogs, new construction, new homes and commercial work. Basically if you need work done on plumbing, heating and air conditioning, Essers has someone who can complete the task in a timely and friendly manner.

Being a company focused on family and small-town values, Laudenbach said the company wants to ensure that people do not go longer than they need to before a repair is made. While it is not always possible to get to a home or business that same day a call is made, Esser employees do put a focus on ensuring all emergency calls are responded to as quickly as possible.

“A lot of times if it is a major emergency we are going to get there that same day,” said Laudenbach. “We are not going to leave a customer hanging if they don’t have water or heat.”

In order to keep a heating or air conditioning unit working properly, Esser Plumbing and Heating stresses the importance of preventive maintenance. Rather than waiting for a unit to completely break before making a repair, small fixes along the way can help to keep a person’s current heating and cooling system operating more efficiently for longer.

One way to do to keep an air conditioning or heating unit working more efficiently and lengthen the life of the unit is to sign up for the Esser Plumbing and Heating Advantage Plan. For a small annual fee, a person can receive one free tune up per year on both their air conditioner and furnace, while also receiving member pricing on all repairs made at a residence. That includes repairs for things like plumbing, as well as heating and air conditioning.

Esser Plumbing and Heating routinely performs commercial and residential installations and services throughout the lakes area, as well as the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Esser Plumbing and Heating is now hiring for all positions in the Fargo, Detroit Lakes and Perham areas. Laudenbach said he focuses on the plumbing aspect of the business and spoke highly of the company as a great place to work and be a part of a team environment.
