The New York Mills Lions Club is getting ready for their annual auction and will be accepting donations until the day of the event. The auction, which will be held on Saturday, April 5 starts at 7 p.m. at the NY Mills Community Ballroom.

The auction is held each year to raise funds for the many projects and organizations that the Club supports each year. This is the largest single fundraising event for the NY Mills Lions Club each year and helps fill their general fund each year.

“We hold this fundraiser annually to help raise funds that we disburse to the community,” said Latham Hetland, auction committee member. “We donate to many projects, including the food shelf, parks, school projects and organizations, and a plethora of other ones. This auction helps us ensure that we have funds for us to help our community organizations succeed and thrive!”

The auction will kick off with a social hour at 6 p.m. with a light meal and the auction will begin at 7 p.m. Items donated to the auction vary from year to year, but over 100 unique items from handmade projects to experiences and trips will be available to bid on. There is something for everyone and each item’s proceeds will go to a good cause.

“My favorite part is just seeing all of the people from around our community and neighboring areas come to help support such an important cause,” said Hetland. “There are many volunteers that help make this event a reality and seeing people put work in to make an event succeed is always very heartwarming.”

Lions members donate the bulk of the items up for auction, but everyone is eligible to donate an item who wants to support the Lions Club. The organization appreciates any contributions and looks forward to being able to giving back to the community with each auction purchase.

“We will be accepting donations until the day of,” said Hetland. “I am fortunate to say that we are filled on volunteers for all parts of the auction, and we will be upstairs at the city hall starting at 8 a.m. Bring up your donations and I’ll get it on the auction block!”
