The Yellowjacket Activities Department has named a new head coach to lead the boys’ tennis team into the 2025 season. Perham Activities Director Erin Anderson announced that Nick Stokke has been appointed as the new head coach, pending ISD 549 Board approval. Stokke will replace Gunnar Anderson, who stepped down after two seasons with the Yellowjackets. Excited about his new position, Stokke shared his enthusiasm for the tennis program.

“Tennis has been a big part of my life since fourth grade and has taught me many valuable lessons, both as a player and now as a teacher,” Stokke said. “The sense of community and friendship I had on tennis teams growing up has kept me involved in the sport all these years, and I’m looking forward to continuing that with the boys this year.”

Perham Activities Director Erin Anderson expressed excitement about Stokke’s appointment, citing his past coaching and playing experience. “We are thrilled to have Stokke come on board and lead our boys’ tennis program,” Anderson said. “He has done a great job with students in the music programs at Prairie Wind Middle School, and his experience playing and coaching for a strong program has us excited for what he can bring to the Yellowjackets.”

Tennis has played a significant role in Stokke’s life. He began playing the game in fourth grade and was part of the highly competitive Grand Forks Red River Tennis Program throughout high school. Stokke competed for four years on the junior varsity team and two years on the varsity. After his high school playing career ended, he transitioned into coaching. He served as an assistant coach while leading the Junior Varsity team at Grand Forks Red River, his alma mater.
