Longtime phy ed teacher and girls basketball and softball coach Bryan Dunrud will take over as activities director beginning in the fall of 2025.
During its regularly scheduled meeting last week, the NY Mills School Board approved a proposal that will fill the vacancy created when current activities
director Matt Radniecki is retiring at the end of the school year. He retired his teaching position a few years ago but has stayed on as a part-time activities director.
According to the model presented to the school board, phy ed. teacher Bryan Dunrud will transition to a part-time activities director and part-time teacher. According to past practice, about 25 percent of a teacher’s time will be dedicated to activities director duties, while the remainder of their time will be dedicated to teaching.
The proposal would not only fill the activities director position, but would also add a phy ed teacher to increasing numbers in physical education at the high school and elementary level.
“It’s probably the single biggest complaint I’ve gotten over the last four months was the phone calls was the elementary phy ed numbers,” said school board member Derek Geiser about the large numbers.
The school board approved the hiring of another phy ed teacher that will be utilized at both the high school and elementary level, as well as hiring Dunrud as a part-time activities director to replace Radniecki when he retires at the end of the school year.
