0The VFW Post 3289 Auxiliary met March 13 with 14 members present.
One new member application was received and approved.
Minutes from the February 20 meeting were approved, and the February Treasurer’s Report was filed subject to audit.
The General Orders Bulletin for March 2025 from the Department President was read and discussed. The National President will visit Minnesota April 23 and 24. Veterans Day on the Hill is April 9. We received a Good Job Award from District 9 for supporting the programs and goals of the VFW Auxiliary. We also received a thank you from the Fargo VA for a donation of heart pillows, a cash donation from family of an Auxiliary member and thank you cards from two recipients of grants.
In other business
• Approved payment of current bills.
• Approved the Ronald McDonald Ride as a new community outreach project. We will volunteer to help on Saturday and plan to hold the breakfast on Sunday.
• At our April meeting we will nominate officers and chairs. Let Shirley Quist know if you are interested in serving as an officer or in another position.
• Approved donations to the Veterans Quilters Club and Menahga Post Prom and a medical grant to an Auxiliary member.
• The Jigsaw Puzzle and Taco Bar event held March 1 raised funds for the Amanda Weller benefit.
• The District 9 meeting scheduled for Saturday, March 15 in New York Mills was cancelled due to the weather.
• Plans for the April 27 fundraiser for Amanda Weller are coming along. The planning committee met March 4 and will hold another meeting March 31. A flyer has been prepared and will be posted in area businesses and sent to all of the Auxiliaries in Minnesota. Donations are being accepted for a raffle and silent auction. Contact an Auxiliary member or the VFW if you have something to donate.
• Annual year-end reports are due from committee chairs to Shirley Quist by the end of the month. All concerned were invited to meet on March 18 to complete the reports.
• Approved delegates for the District 9 Convention to be held in Bemidji on May 3.
• Draped the charter for 1997-1998 Department President Jackie Reth and 3289 Member Dorothy Welter, who passed away recently.
• A short informal ceremony was held honoring Auxiliary President Shirley Quist in appreciation for her leadership and hard work for Veterans and our Auxiliary.
