The New York Mills Eagles have pushed their winning streak to five games after picking up four wins last week. In their games last week the Eagles outscored their opponents by a 30-2 margin, including three shutouts.

NY Mills is currently 6-4 overall and 4-4 in the Park Region Conference. They are scheduled to host Pillager on Tuesday, before heading to Cherry on Friday to take on both the host Cherry Tigers and South Ridge as part of a split doubleheader. 

Tuesday

Isaac Kawlewski threw a five-hit shut out as the Eagles defeated Wadena-Deer Creek as part of a 4-0 win over the Wolverines on Tuesday night. Kawlewski struck three hitters out and gave up just five hits in the win. 

The Eagles broke the game open in the bottom of the third inning when Blake Unger hit a two-run double and scored just one batter later when Braxton Ehnert hit an RBI single to make the score 3-0.

Slade Doll threw a scoreless seventh inning during last week’s game against the Sebeka Trojans.

NY Mills added a bit of insurance in the bottom of the fifth inning when Unger came through in the clutch once again when he hit an RBI single that brought Finn Roder across the plate to make the score 4-0. 

It was all the offense the Eagles would need as Kawlewski was brilliant on the mound to secure the important conference win.

Unger had a solid day at the plate as he went 2-3 with a double and three RBIs.

In the second game of the night, NY Mills scored a pair of runs in both the first and second inning to come away with a 5-2 win over the Frazee Hornets. 

NY Mills took the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Finn Roder scored on an error and Grady Roberts hit an RBI single to make the game 2-0. Unger made the score 4-0 in the second inning when he hit a two-run triple to center field, before adding another run in the fifth inning to make the score 5-2. 

Kolston Lofgren and Ehnert were solid on the mound as they combined to throw a one hitter, with the lone hit being an RBI double in the fourth inning. Lofgren went 3 1/3 innings and gave up the lone hit and two earned runs, while striking out two hitters. Ehnert pitched the final 3 2/3 innings and gave up just two walks and struck out two hitters. 

Unger once again led the way offensively as he went 3-4 with a triple and  two RBIs.

Thursday

NY Mills took advantage of four Browerville errors and pounded out 10 hits on their way to a 12-0 win over Browerville on Thursday night. 

The Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Grady Roberts and Kolston Lofgren hit back-to-back RBI singles with two outs, before Lofgren scored on an error by the Browerville first baseman. They added three more runs in the second inning thanks to an Unger RBI single, wild pitch and RBI single by Lofgren. 

Unger connected for an RBI single with two outs in the third inning, before scoring four more runs int he fourth inning to end the game by a score of 12-0 and the 10-run rule. 

Unger picked up the win on the mound as he scattered two hits and didn’t walk a batter on his way to the win.

Friday

Finn Roder gave up just two hits and struck out five batters as the Eagles completed a four-win weeks with a 9-0 victory over Sebeka on Friday. Roder walked six batters, but did not give up a run over six innings, before Slade Doll pitched a scoreless seventh inning to secure the win.

After scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning, the Eagles broke the game open with a big four run bottom of the second inning, before tacking on a run in the fourth inning, two in the fifth and one run in the sixth. 

Grady Roberts had a big day at the plate as he went 4-4 with four doubles and three RBIs in the win. Roder went 3-4 with three runs scored, three RbIs and a triple in the win.
