Shaila Roberts captured first place in the shot put and picked up another top eight finish in the discus at the Pillager Invite on Thursday night. Roberts posted a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 33’11” to take home first place, while throwing the discus 75’3” to capture seventh place in that event. 

Also taking home a top eight finish for the girls team was a pair of relays, including the 4×200-meter relay team of Lilja Pakkala, Lily Roberts, Rosie Tumberg and Rachel Tumberg who finished in seventh place with a time of 2:09.96, as well as the 4×100-meter relay team of Lily Roberts, Kaitlynn Dittmann, Lucia Constant and Ella Holmes who took seventh place with a time of 1:03.67.

“Very good efforts from all who competed with the highlight of the day being in the girls shot put where Shaila Roberts earned a first place finish while beating her previous personal record of 31’0” by nearly 3 feet. She finished with a put of 33’11”, said coach Steve Dunrud. “Tony Nichols on the boy’s side had an outstanding day also, placing in three events with two personal record performances.”

On the boys side, Tony Nichols had a solid day on the track posting a personal best in both the long jump and 400-meter dash. In the long jump Nichols finished in fourth place with a jump of 18’6 1/4”, while taking fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.52. He also captured sixth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.42.

Also placing in the top eight for the boys team was Carl Peterman who posted a season best throw in the discus of 96’2” to finish in sixth place.

Other Eagles posting a personal best, but not placing in the top eight, were: Elija Kaufmanin the discus with a throw of 84’1” and the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.83, Lilja Pakkala in the 100-meter dash with a time of 16.46, Lucia Constant in the 100-meter dash with a time of 16.7, Ava Carlson in the shot put with a throw of 20’10 1/2”, Rosie Tumberg in the long jump with a jump of 13’ and the 200-meter dash with a time of 32.31 and Rachel Tumberg in the long jump with a jump of 11’6 1/2” and the 200-meter dash with a time of 32.03.
