NYM School seniors receive nearly $351,000 in scholarships

New York Mills seniors received $350,900 in scholarships during the annual scholarship and awards ceremony at the school last Wednesday. The ceremony featured the scholarship awarding ceremony, as well as the induction of the new members of the New York Mills National Honor Society.
Scholarship award winners included:
The New York Mills Lions Club presented $1,000 scholarships to Violet Radniecki, Hunter Bosman, Brooke Sonsalla, Kalyn Balbach, Braxton Ehnert, Samantha Pederson and Alayna Baune.

Perham Health presented a $1,000 scholarship to Kalyn Balbach.
Charles D. Center Post 3289 VFW presented $500 scholarships to Samantha Pederson, Dixie Dykhoff, Alayna Baune, Alexander Simpson, Austin Geiser, Kacie Steinbach, Deserae Koljonen, Isaac Kawlewski, Braxton Ehnert and Tyler Roush.
Lakeview Trust and Estate Law, PLLC awarded Ashton Lehmann the Steen Mursu Memorial Scholarship of $500.
The Royale B. And Eleanor M. Arvig Memorial $750×4 scholarship was presented to Samantha Pederson.
Brunswick Operations presented Belle Vaden with a $1,000 scholarship.

The Mike Parta Community Service Scholarship was presented to Avery Perala in the amount of $500.
The Heart of the Lakes Fishing League presented Kacie Steinbach and Isaac Kawlewski scholarships of $1,000.
Footprints Foundation, Inc. presented Alex Simpson and Belle Vaden scholarships of $400.
The Teachers for Education Scholarship was presented to Violet Radniecki, Ayla Olson and Alayna Baune for $500 each.
The Perham Rotary Club presented Kalyn Balbach with a $1,250 scholarship.
The New York Mills Wrestling Family Scholarships were presented to Austin Geiser ($1,000), Alexander Simpson ($500) and Samantha Pederson ($500).

East Otter Tail County Breakfast on the Farm presented Alexander Simpson and Alayna Baune $250 scholarships.
The Ottertail Lions presented $2,000 scholarships to Riley Anderson, Kalyn Balbach, Hutner Bosman, Dixie Dykhoff, Braxton Ehnert, Austin Geiser, Marissa Goeller, Deserae Koljonen, Kenzie McGrane, Ayla Olson, Violet Radniecki, Brooke Sonsalla, Belle Vaden.
The Jeff Endres Medical Scholarship was presented to Riley Anderson and Kalyn Balbach for $500 each.
Superintendent Adam Johnson presented the school board scholarship to Hunter Bosman, Kalyn Balbach, Violet Radniecki and Alayna Baune for $200 each.

The Ottertail Rod and Gun Club presented Austin Geiser with a $1,000 scholarship.
The Mike Rohde Spirit Scholarship was presented to Marissa Goeller for $2,000.
The Perham Masonic Lodge presented Soren Stout and Kacie Steinbach with scholarships of $1,000.
Astera Health presented Kalyn Balbach a $1,000 scholarship.
The Arnold Weller Memorial Wrestling Scholarship was presented to Austin Geiser for $250.
The Bluffton Lions presented Kalyn Balbach a scholarship for $500.
The Angel Streese Salthe Memorial Scholarship of $500 was presented to Zaidie Trigueros.

KLN presented a scholarship of $500 to Deserae Koljonen and Kylee Lehmann.
The Myron A. Pauna Memorail Scholarship of $500 was presented to Marissa Goeller.
The Mary E. Driessen Memorial Scholarship of $750 was presented to Alex Simpson.
The Gary Maki Memorial Scholarship of $500 was presented to Ayla Olson.
The Lowell Dreyer Scholarship of $500 was presented to Alex Simpson.
Bongards’ Creameries presented Alayna Baune a scholarship of $1,000.
The Alan (Lindy) Linda Fund presented two renewable $500 scholarships to Kylee Lehmann and Ashton Lehmann.
The Harold N. Wood Memorial Scholarship of $100 was presented to Deserae Koljonen.
The Lucille Schik Memorial Scholarship of $500 was presented to Marissa Goeller.
The Marjorie Weir Hanson RN Nursing Scholarship of $1,000 per year for four years was presented to Kalyn Balbach.
The Harley and Verna Windels Memorial Scholarship of $500 each was presented to Libby Barvels, Dixie Dykhoff, Alayna Baune, Braxton Ehnert, Austin Geiser, Isaac Kawlewski, Trina Kovar and Violet Radniecki.
The Julia Krekula-Gray scholarship of $500 was presented to Dixie Dykhoff.
The Janis Mae Isaacson Memorial Scholarship of $100 was presented to Soren Stout.
The Jaakola Family Health Career Scholarship of $500 was presented to Brooke Sonsalla.
The J. Eric Anderson Excellence in Education Scholarship of $500 was presented to Deserae Koljonen.
The Anderson Memorial Scholarship of $500 was presented to Joseph Mann.
The Anderson Scholarship Fund presented scholarships of $300 each to Madison Reynolds, Cole Wilson and Blake Unger.
The Paatola Memorial Agriculture Scholarship of $500 was presented to Alex Simpson.
The Gibb’s #10 Transportation Scholarship of $500 was presented to Tyler Roush.
The Ruby Olsen-Sifritson Scholarship of $500 each was presented to Violet Radniecki, Samantha Pederson, Alayna Baune and Avery Perala.
The National Honor Society presented Kalyn Balbach and Riley Anderson both $1,250 scholarships for their work as student coordinators for the American Red Cross Blood Drive.
The Everett C. Hanson, M.D. Track & Field Fund Scholarship of $1,000, renewable for four years, will be presented to a graduating track and field athlete at the end of the 2025 track season.
The Leo Bernu Scholarship of $1,200 each was presented to Hunter Bosman and Brooke Sonsalla.
The Joan B. Hanson Scholarship of $1,000, renewable for four years, was presented to Violet Radniecki.
The New York Mills Civic Excellence Award of a $200 donation in the name of the recipient with a $400 scholarship to be used for post-secondary education was presented to Audrey Weller.
Ayla Olson was presented a $32,000 per year Academic Scholarship from St. Mary’s University.
Kalyn Balbach was presented the Presidential Scholarship for $12,000 from MSUM.
Alayna Baune was presented the University Scholarship for $10,000 from MSUM.
Samantha Pederson was presented an academic scholarship for $10,000 per year for four years from Iowa State University.
Deserae Koljonen was presented the Concordia Excellence Scholarship for $13,000 per year and the Priority Cobber award for $500 per year from Concordia College.
Braxton Ehnert was presented a $1,000 academic scholarship from NDSCS.
Brooke Sonsalla was presented The Influencer Scholarship of $3,000 (renewable) from the University of Minnesota Rochester.
