The New York Mills track team posted some strong performances at the Park Region Conference track and field meet on Tuesday night. The Eagles were led by Shaila Roberts who captured the conference championship in the shot put with a throw of 35’2”. 

Tony Nichols captured third place in the long jump with a jump of 19’1 1/2”. 

“Both of these tracksters were very consistent with their marks and were very close to posting their personal records in what is becoming their favorite events. We were also very happy with our girl’s 4 x 200m Relay which placed 4th. and improved their season best time by more than 3 seconds. Members of the relay team included: Rachel Tumberg, Lilja Pakkala, Daisy Lalum, & Rosie Tumberg,” said head coach Steve Dunrud.

Also placing for the Eagles was the 4×200-meter relay team of Rachel Tumberg, Lilja Pakkala, Daisy Lalum and Tumberg who took fourth place with a time of 2:05.65, as well as Elijah Geiser who took sixth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.31 and Carl Peterman who took sixth place in the discus with a throw of 92’8”. 

Also posting a personal record, but not placing in the top six include: Gayson Meyer in the discus with a throw of 76’11”, Rachel Tumberg in the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.89, Lilja Pakkala in the discus with a throw of 68’9 1/2” and Ella Holmes in the discus with a throw of 64’9 1/2”. 

Up next for the Eagles is the sub section track and field meet which will be held at Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday beginning at 3:45 p.m.
