Isaac Kawlewski, Braxton Ehnert, Blake Unger and Slade Doll combined to throw a one-hit shut out as part of a 23-0 win over Cass Lake-Bena during the opening round of the sub section tournament on Thursday night.

The Eagles pounded 19 hits and 23 runs in just four innings at the plate, which included 10 runs in the first inning, seven runs in the second inning and three runs in both the third and fourth innings. 

After Kawlewski sent the Bears down in order in the top of the first inning, NY Mills wasted little time to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first when Finn Roder hit a triple and scored one hitter later when Blake Unger hit an RBI double. The Eagles would go on to score another run on an error, a passed ball, RBI double by Kolston Lofgren, and RBI singles by Evan Doll, Unger, Ehnert and Lofgren.

The Eagles were led offensively by Unger who went 3-3 with three RBIs and four runs scored. Finn Roder, Ehnert, Grady Roberts, Henry Oakes and Lofgren all finished with two hits apiece. 

Kawlewski picked up the win after he didn’t give up a hit or walk over two innings of action.

With the win the Eagles have advanced to the semi-finals of the sub section tournament and will host Frazee on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. The winner of the game will take on either second seeded Sebeka or third seeded Nevis on Thursday at the high seed.
