The communities of New York Mills and Deer Creek came together on Monday morning for a pair of Memorial Day programs. During the program in NY Mills the featured speaker spoke about the approximately four years he spent as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. During his presentation the speaker held up a piece of the chain that he was attached to when he was being held captive. The NY Mills program also included musical selections by the high school band and choir. The Deer Creek program featured a guest speaker, as well as laying of the wreaths.
