The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center has announced the final performance of its 2025 Spring Concert Series—internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Sofia Talvik, live in concert on Thursday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

This special performance is part of the Cultural Center’s new “pay as you’re able” concert initiative, ensuring that everyone—regardless of financial ability—can experience high-quality, live music close to home. This means no tickets are required and all are welcome.

Sofia Talvik, known for her ethereal voice and heartfelt songwriting, blends the soul of Americana with the Nordic spirit of her native Sweden. With a sound often compared to icons like Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins, Sofia captivates audiences with personal storytelling, acoustic guitar, and a mesmerizing solo performance that layers harmonies, percussion and melody into a rich and moving soundscape.

Having toured extensively across 48 U.S. states, Europe, and New Zealand, Talvik brings a worldly perspective and deep authenticity to the stage. Her latest album, Center of the Universe (2023), debuted in the Top 20 on the Folk Radio Charts USA, with its lead single reaching the Top 10. The album was even considered for a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album.

Those who attend should expect an unforgettable evening of original folk music; a warm, welcoming space with a cash bar and complimentary snacks and a chance to support live music in rural Minnesota
