Two Eagles compete at Section 6A meet

Shaila Roberts ended her season with an impressive fourth place finish at the Section 6A track meet on Thursday. 

Roberts, who was one of two Eagles competing in the section track meet, finished in fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 34’ 2 1/2”. She came up just short in a bid to advance to state as the top two finishers advance to next week’s state track meet.

Heading into the section meet the NY Mills sophomore was seeded seventh, something she improved upon at the section meet. She finished behind a pair of seniors. 

Tony Nichols also competed for the Eagles at the section meet as the sophomore also surpassed his 16th seed to finish in 12th place. 

Head coach Steve Dunrud said the coaches and fans are proud of their athletes as they competed with the best athletes in the section. He said the team can’t ask for more than what they have done throughout the season.

• Eagle award- Elijah Geiser, Payton Lausten

• Hardest worker- Tony Nichols, Carl Peterman, Grayson Meyer, Lily Roberts

• Captains award- Elijah Geiser, Payton Lausten
