2024 Veterans Home R & R received a $20,000 donation.
Recreational programming at the Minnesota Veterans Home – Fergus Falls is getting a big boost this year, thanks to a $26,000 donation from the non-profit Veterans Home Rest & Relaxation (Veterans Home R & R).
“This act of kindness not only underscores the importance of community engagement but also serves as a beacon of appreciation for the sacrifices made by our Veterans,” said Gary Harris, Fergus Falls Veterans Home Public Affairs.
This donation was made possible by the many patrons who support the quality of life for Veterans and their families. Veterans Home R & R sponsors summer events that raise money, awareness and support for the activities that lift spirts and warm hearts at the Veterans Home.
The donation this year is from proceeds raised during summer 2024 events and activities. Last year, Veterans Home R & R donated $42,500 to install a 50-foot dock which featured an extra wide walkway to accommodate wheelchairs, a bench and rubber grip decking. The dock has given easy, safe access to residents for fishing, leisurely boat rides, and enjoyable moments of relaxation on the water.
The donations exemplify the power of collective action from event patrons who honor and support our Veterans. Dave Muchow, a Fergus Falls Veterans Home Resident, expressed his deep gratitude for each patron and event sponsor and their appreciation of his and others’ sacrifices and service in the South Pacific.
This act of generosity has been met with overwhelming appreciation from the Residents and staff of Fergus Falls Veterans Home. Joel Johnson, an Army Veteran Resident at the Home expressed his excitement about the new dock.
“It’s wonderful to see Veterans Home R & R recognizing the needs of us Veterans and taking steps to support us,” he said.
Mitch Davis, President of the Board for Veterans Home R & R said “We are happy we can continue to honor and support these Veterans. The caring people who generously support our events allowing us to make a difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.”
