NYM ends season with 12-10 record

New York Mills had its season come to a close on Monday evening as the Eagles fell to Mille Lacs by a score of 6-4 in the elimination bracket of the Section 5A tournament.

After Mille Lacs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Eagles cut into the Raiders lead when Braxton Ehnert hit an RBI triple and scored one batter later on an error to make the score 3-2 in favor of Mille Lacs. 

The Raiders added another run in the top of the second inning, before NY Mills scored on an Eli Vaughn RBI single to right field to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Raiders. 

Mille Lacs added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to make the score 6-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning for NY Mills. 

The Eagles had a chance to come away with the win as Kolston Lofgren reached base by error to lead of the inning and NY Mills had the tying run up to the plate with runners on second and third base with one out when Vaughn connected with an RBI single to make the score 6-4. Evan Doll loaded up the bases with two outs when he earned a walk,
but the Eagles were unable to get the tying and winning run across the plate as they fell by a score of 6-4. 

Lofgren, Ehnert and Vaughn led the way offensively with two hits apiece.

Isaac Kawlewski took the loss on the mound as he went 6 1/3 innings and gave up just five hits, six runs of which three were earned and struck out 11 batters.

The Eagles actually outhit the Raiders 10-5, but four errors and a few more timely hits by Mille Lacs proved the be the difference.

The loss ends the Eagles season with a record of 12-10 overall.
