Deep fried oreos, monster trucks, animals and carnival rides—oh my!

The annual Wadena County Fair kicks off next week in Wadena and offers four days filled with special shows, rides and grandstand activities for people of all ages.

The fair begins on Thursday, June 19 with daycare day. Among the highlights of Thursday will be several performances by magician John Cassidy and a monster truck show at the grandstand beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Friday will be senior citizens day and several musical performances will be held throughout the afternoon that will take people back to a generation ago. The day will once again feature a variety of performances by magician John Cassidy and the senior citizen appreciation picnic will be held from 2-3 p.m. at the beer garden. 

The grandstand will once again feature some popular activities on Friday night as the Red River Valley Pullers tractor pull will begin at 6 p.m., before Slamabama will take center stage in the band stand beginning at 9 p.m.

Family day is Saturday and among the highlights will be some of the final activities begin judged as part of the 4-H contests, a kicks coin scramble and the annual 4-H barnyard Olympics that will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The main activities for the night will be the enduro races at the grandstand beginning at 4 p.m., before Austin Healy brings the day to a close with a performance on the band stand beginning at 9 p.m.

The demo derby will be held on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. and the fair will come to a close at 5 p.m. when the exhibits are released and the commercial building is closed for the final time.

The ever-popular midway will feature five wrist band times including Thursday from 5-9 p.m., Friday from 2-6 p.m., Saturday from 12-4 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. and Sunday from 12-4 p.m.
