Ottertail gears up for annual OtterFest celebration

Nick the Strolling Magician will once again host a large magic show following the parade in Ottertail on Saturday. The magic show is just one of a number of events on tap for Ottertail over the weekend.

Everything tends to be a little bigger in Ottertail and that includes another expansive celebration in the heart of Otter Tail County.
The annual OtterFest celebration will kick of on Friday night with one of the largest demo derby’s in the area. The demo derby begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the Ottertail Rod and Gun Club. The night will include everything from a conventional demo derby with vehicles smashing into one another to a power wheels demo derby for kids, auto cross and more.
On Saturday, OtterFest kicks into high gear with the pancake feed from 8-11 a.m. at the community center, while the vendor booths will also begin at 8 a.m.
Magic will be in the air beginning at 9:30 a.m. when Nick the Strolling Magician will be performing a variety of magical acts, before he hosts a large magic show near the community park following the parade.
The classic car show begins at 10 a.m. and inflatable rides will be held in the park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The big parade will roll through the streets of Ottertail beginning at 11 a.m. and chicken poop bingo will kick off following the parade at 12 p.m.
At 1 p.m. family games with a bike giveaway will be held for the young and young at heart in the community park, while chainsaw carving, bingo and the Otterwalk will all be held throughout the afternoon.
The night will come to a close with a pork and corn feed at 4:30 p.m., live music featuring Kevin Klimek and the Sideliners from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and one of the largest fireworks displays in the area sponsored by the Ottertail Lions Club beginning at dusk.
