Jemma Goeson placed third and Helena Kimber took seventh at the Otter Tail Central meet last week.
Last Monday the New York Mills Cross Country team ran on a very hot day at the Ashby-Brandon-Evansville meet.
In the junior high girls’ race Jemma Goeson took fifth place and Helena Kimber placed sixth, while in the boys’ junior high race their top runners were: Chavez Cannon first place and Layton Meyer third place.
In the varsity boys’ race Jacob Thorsrud came in eighth place and Dawson Seelhammer placed 11th.
On Thursday the team again ran in the heat at the OTC meet held at Balmoral Golf Course. Here Jemma Goeson placed third in the junior high race, while Helena Kimber took seventh. Finn Costin and Gus Tumberg ran well in the junior high race and in the varsity race Heath Hammond, Dawson Seelhammer, Jacob Thursrud and Loren Underdahl all had very respectable times.
Earlier in the elementary race the top NY Mills finishers were Millie Schik and Chavez Cannon.
After the busy week of running Coach Greg Esala said,”It’s been unseasonably warm and that’s tough on runners. Our team has continued to run well despite the heat.”

On Thursday of this week the Eagles travel to Perham for their meet, which is the largest one they compete in all year.
