NYM to look to rebound with three games this week

The New York Mills Eagles fell to 4-15 overall and 0-4 in the Park Region Conference with a pair of losses last week.

The Eagles opened the week with a 3-1 loss to Verndale, before falling to Pillager in straight sets 3-0 on the road. 

This week the Eagles traveled to Parkers Prairie on Monday night, before they hit the road once again for a conference game against the Henning Hornets on Tuesday.
On Thursday the Eagles will host Menahga in another Park Region Conference game.

NY Mills will wrap up their regular season net week when they host Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 14, before participating in the Underwood Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 16. 

Tuesday

Following a thrilling 26-24 win in the second set, the NY Mills Eagles tied their Park Region Conference match up with the Verndale Pirates up at 1-1 after the Pirates took the first game by a score of 25-20. Unfortunately, the Pirates would go on to win the next two sets by scores of 25-19, 25-18 to come away with the 3-1 win.

Alivia Preuss had a solid game at the net as she finished with nine kills, while Chloe Costin and Annika Dunrud finished with eight kills apiece in the loss. Costin also led the team with 20 assists and finished with 12 digs.

Gabi Vaden led the way at the service line as the senior finished with four ace serves and also led the team with 17 digs. Abigail Berndt and Julie Seim finished with 11 and 10 digs respectively.

Thursday

NY Mills was unable to get by a tough Pillager Huskies team on Thursday night as they fell by a score of 3-0 in their second straight Park Region Conference game of the week. 

Pillager took the first set by a score of 25-16, before coming away with wins of 25-14, 25-14 in the second and third sets to come away with the three game sweep. 

Seniors Gabi Vaden and Annika Dunrud led the offensive attack with eight and six kills respectively, while Vaden also led the team with 13 digs. Chloe Costin finished with 13 assist and Julie Seim finished with seven assists in the loss.
