Good Samaritan assists boater

One person was rescued on the west side of Otter Tail Lake after a sailboat capsized close to 4 p.m. on Oct. 4. A Good Samaritan assisted the boater to upright the sailboat.

Watch for deer when traveling

In Minnesota, October is a peak month for deer-vehicle crashes due to increased deer activity and reduced daylight hours. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution, especially at dawn and dusk.

The white-tailed deer breeding season begins in md-October and continues through November, causing deer to move more frequently and less predictably. As days get shorter, peak deer activity times at dawn and dusk collide with driver commuter times.
