The New York Mills junior high knowledge bowl team started their season October 10 in Fergus Falls.

Knowledge bowl is an academic competition with trivial pursuit style questions from all subjects of school covered throughout the day. On this day the Eagles competed against teams from Alexandria, Moorhead, Osakis, Perham and Barnesville.

Eighteen NY Mills students made up three teams started the day with a written round of 60 questions. NY Mills Neon started the day ranked seventh after the written round.

“We did the best in the written round as we could really talk about the questions. Our goal for ourselves at the beginning of the meet was to get 6th. We tried hard and exceeded our goal,” said eighth grader Rye Nelson.

Nelson was a part of the NY Mills Neon team that finished in fourth place.

NY Mills Navy and Nickel slowly dropped places each of the three oral rounds going from their starting position then ending the day in 17th and 18th. The three teams are looking forward to practicing, shuffling up the teams, and their next two meets in November.
