Last Friday afternoon the New York Mills cross country team traveled to Bagley to compete in the Section 8A meet. 

Seniors Audrey Weller, Heath Hammond and Elijah Geiser all ran well in their last high school meet with Geiser having the best time for NY Mills. Also running in the boys’ race were sophomore Dawson Seelhammer, freshman Loren Underdahl and eighth grader Noah Radniecki. Underdahl also had a personal record (PR) at the meet cutting over two minutes off his previous best. 

Along with Weller in the girls’ race, Jemma Goeson ran her first varsity race and finished with a very respectable time of  23:07. 

After the race, Coach Greg Esala said “we had a great season with all of our runners improving and working hard. That makes a coach’s job very enjoyable. As coaches we will miss the leadership of our seniors, but we also look forward to next year as we work to have our team grow and our athletes continue to improve.”
